Q: Why the name 'Octomotobo' ?
*Deep breathe*
Back in 2011 I was adamant on purchasing a octopus as a pet. I would spend a few hours researching into care and expenses. I would try to come up with names for my would be octopus which then led me to searching for an appropriate name through Google. Before my online handle became 'Octomotobo' there were only 4 listings from Google results that had anything to do with names for octopi. I saw a suggestion like "Octo Moto" and rolled with it. I have always had a fascination for sea life and being part Chinese, the combination fit well for me.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy being with my wife Emily and our two daughters keep us busy. We like playing with our dogs, Cooper James & Indiana, our labs. I like to visit aquariums and travel often. Theater and improv comedy is one of my favorite things to see when I'm in the Twin Cities. When I'm not drawing or playing D&D I'll be painting miniatures for hobby enjoyment and war gaming.
Q: What are your tools of the trade?
When I first started taking art and drawing seriously in 2009 I tried to diversify all mediums of art. I taught myself how to draw digitally on a tablet in Photoshop and even took classes on oil painting and acrylics. There are still many tools I wish to learn, but for now I kind of stick to what I know.
Tools of the trade:
- Copic and Prisma Colored markers
- Chromika brand Watercolors
- Watercolor paints and pens
- Bic mechanical pencils
- India Ink brush pens
- Paint Tool Sai for painting, coloring and line work
- Manga Studio 5 & MS 4 EX for comics and line work.
- For paper I try to stick with watercolor paper with 80 lb cold press or higher.
