Updates & Summer ‘25!

Pic taken by my friend Bryn during Castle-Con ‘25

Well, here we are after a long migration from Square to Square Space! For the longest time I was hosted through Weebly (which was previously purchased by Square) & slowly but surely all the features that my site relied on were being shut off. To put plainly, the enshittification of a platform. While I am not too keen on most platforms now, this will be adequate for the time being!

If you are here reading this, it means in some way you have met me, took notice of my artwork, we have worked together either through a purchase of my work or commission. Thank you so much for taking your time & money into supporting my work. Regardless of whether you purchased my work or not means a lot to me.

I am still whittling away at commissions & client work, so taking on new work has slowed down significantly. My aim is to be caught up by the end of August, but with a wedding in July and working full-time & a family of 3 toddlers…we will see.. ha ha ha…oy-vey.

How am I doing?

Personally I have been doing well! The end of 2024 was a lot. I was in the middle of figuring out my diagnosis of ADHD, trying out therapy with a psychiatrist via video, handling toddlers, a D&D campaign, keeping finances in check, balancing artwork & maintaining relationships with my wife & friends. I’m not so sure there is any trick to really have the perfect schedule. Most creative/entrepreneurial guys I know personally know that they struggle with creating time aside for their projects without neglecting personal life. For the time being I think it’s all a juggling act. Some weeks are better than others & you are never guaranteed the time! So, if you had just 20mins, an hour, 3 hours, half a day, a whole weekend to do something, what would you do? That is what I have tried to follow.

Otherwise, my family have been doing great. My wife is still sweet as ever & our kids continue to grow & change into people that break our hearts over & over again. I never noticed time moving as fast until I had kids & honestly not a fan of it! I want them to be this little and make us giggle over and over again. We’re so proud of them, they are the best.

Convention Scene!
Since I moved to this site in January of 2025 I have attended a number of shows;
- Castle-Con in Rochester, MN - First time show hosted in the downtown Historic Chateau Theater
- AdeptiCon in Milwaukee, WI - My first time as an attendee to enjoy the hobby, but I actually ended up networking!
- Dave-Con in Bloomington, MN - A small OSR (old school cool) inspired RPG convention that hosts OE style D&D & rpgs
- North Iowa Vintage & Oddities Expo in Mason City, IA - A local art & music event where the weird & queer mix with the cool & bizarre. A lovely time!

I plan on doing blog posts talking about each event at some point. Some were good & some were bad, but I will make sure to go over them & give you some insight. Hopefully that will help whether you’re an artist yourself here in the MidWest/North Iowa Area or as an attendee.

Looking ahead to the rest of the year, I plan on attending Austi-Con in Austin, MN during October 17th-19th. It has become one of my favorite gatherings of friends, gamers and miniature hobbies. I had a great time in 2024 & am looking to add more flair & assist how I can for the coming event.

There are a few more shows I am waiting to hear back if I will be able to attend or not such as Furry Migration, but haven’t heard back just yet. I am not dying to get into more shows as the Fall approaches, but if it works out with my family’s schedule I try my best. I am eager to attend AdeptiCon again as my friends & I had an amazing time seeing our hobbies 24/7 for 4 days straight. After meeting so many creators, they really suggested I give their Artist Alley a shot, so I am trying to apply & see where it lands me. If I do not get in as a vendor, I will happily go as an attendee because that show is amazing.

For now, my sights are local. We just had an art fair in my area of Mason City, IA & the next local event is my gallery host & local game store Now & Then! We have an anniversary coming up in August and I hope to have minis and artwork ready for local patrons & possible new painters & gamers alike.

That’s all for now. Thank you again for taking the time to check out my work. It means a lot to me and my family.

I am proud to say I have been working with so many wonderful people from all different areas of fandom. From Warhammer to Furries & more. Here’s to more art! Take care & stay tuned!
