Hail and welcome, my friends!
I've decided to recently open up a blog to encourage myself to write more often and to keep up with content creation.
As the title says of this post, Coulee Con 2023 is rapidly approaching. With less than 10 days until we begin the madness of loading trailers, laughing maniacally & staying up past 1 A.M painting miniatures & commissions.
This will be the convention's 9th year in La Crosse, WI. This will be my 3rd time attending and 2nd time showcasing my artwork. Every time it has gradually gotten larger with events and attendances, so I anticipate it should be a decent time for everyone. This year my good friends at Now & Then in Mason City, IA will also be hosting their first booth at this show to sell their products as well.

Stock & Interest
Things are still a bit chaotic on my end as far as preparations go. I am still attempting to design a couple more posters, prints and have original artwork up for sale at the show. I am having a good problem where my artwork is being sold faster than I can produce. Still, I want to ensure that I will have plenty of product available to those that seek original artwork.
Ever since I started selling my work at conventions, my goals haven't really changed in regards to what I sell. I sell the things I wish I could have purchased at the shows that I attend & if you find yourself wanting to do what I do, I suggest the same goals to you.
When I go a show as an attendee, I am usually after something unique or original whether it is an art commission or original piece of artwork. A print is always a fun compromise if the original isn't up for sale or is otherwise beyond my budget. I am a fan of finding artists and commissioning them for their work if I like it enough. My rates and product is what I want for myself if I were a customer. Something original, a physical piece with real ink and paint.

Preparations...
Currently my artwork is being hosted at my FLGS, Now & Then in Mason City, IA. Over time the owners Mike & Kris have become my closest friends. They've been kind enough to let me sell my artwork directly in the shop, which has been very helpful providing supplemental cash for our newborn supplies. In return I do what I can to help promote the store with their social media posts and in-store events like running Dungeons & Dragons sessions or hosting miniature painting workshops.
I have a few new display shelves that I intend to use for Coulee Con to help draw in more attention. I am a fan of rifling through bins & books, but this may help encourage potential customers decide if they want commission work or not.

Between the shop and my homestead my artwork is a little bit everywhere. It'll be at least an afternoon's worth to gather everything together to bring along for the show. Besides the stock that has already been made, I am still looking to get a couple more products completed before show time.
- 8x10 prints (abandoned undead skeleton warriors in nature series)
- 11x17 prints (Lich-related)
- 8x11 original sketches and drawings (fantasy related, goblins, slimes, D&D related monsters & more)
- and at least one more skeleton-girl pinup design, but we will see about that.
Anyway, we will how it all goes! I know it's gonna be fun either way. Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings. If you are attending Coulee Con, be sure to thank the crew & staff that run the convention. They work really hard and the charity work that they do is truly special.
Until next time!
